Africa-Press – Angola. The Supreme Court (TS) has rescheduled the start of the eighth session of the trial involving generals “Kopelipa” and “Dino” for Monday, June 2, after the defense requested five days to analyze the case.
The decision was made this Tuesday in Luanda, at the request of the public defender of the China International Fund (CIF), who requested this period to consult the case files and prepare his defense, to be presented in writing or orally.
The defendants Fernando Gomes dos Santos, Yiu Haiming and the companies Plansmart International Limited and Utter Right International Limited are also part of the case.
The request was accepted by Judge Anabela Valente, and signed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the defendants’ legal representatives.
Therefore, the reading of the defense of the public defender of the defendant CIF and the beginning of the evidence production phase are scheduled for Monday’s session.
The case involves 38 witnesses who are expected to be heard over the next few sessions.
The defendants are charged with embezzlement, fraud, document forgery, criminal association, abuse of power, money laundering and influence peddling.
