Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s national under-16 karate team won on Friday the gold medal in the under-55 kg category at the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) Games in Dili, East Timor.

The Angolan athlete,Jesus Muanza, achieved the feat with a 3-2 victory over Alexandre Nessi of Timor-Leste.

The Angolan champion received his medal from Rui Falcão, the Minister of Youth and Sports. This is the athlete’s second international title, following the 2024 zonal championship in Namibia.

At this event, other Angolan athletes, including Patrícia Neto, Emília Vela, and Naria Soares, won bronze medals.

On Friday, Angola is expected to win two more gold medals, either in the men’s 3×3 basketball final against Cabo Verde or in the women’s final against Portugal. The national team is also focused on winning the gold medal in the classical chess tournament.

Angola has sent a delegation of 100 people to the CPLP Games.

Portugal, Cabo Verde, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste are also participating in the Dili Games.
