Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Zambia, Albino Malungo, on Thursday in Lusaka met with the Serbian ambassador in the same country, Jasna Zrnović.

The purpose of the meeting was to assess the state of relations between the two countries, which date back long before the proclamation of national independence, marked on November 11th.

A press release from the Angolan Embassy in Zambia, states that the Serbian ambassador spoke about Angola’s priority as part of his country’s foreign investment policy, particularly in Africa.

According to the source, the meeting, which took place at the Angolan Official Residence in Lusaka, served to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two diplomatic missions and address issues related to existing exchanges between the two countries.

Relations between Angola and Serbia are historical, dating back to the recognition of Angolan independence by the former Yugoslavia in 1975, and have been strengthened by agreements in areas such as industry, agriculture, defence, education, and culture.

The diplomatic partnership and technical-scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries was made official on April 25, 1977.

Currently, there is a significant presence of Angolan students in Serbian universities, in courses such as economics, medicine and law.
