Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, and a delegation of jurists from the Brazilian Institute of Family Law (IBDFAM) reviewed, this Tuesday, in Luanda, the problem of the vulnerability of families (women and children).
Speaking to the press, the president of the Brazilian Institute of Family Law (IBDFAM), Rodrigo da Cunha Pereira, considered the meeting in the legislative body fruitful, which can produce laws that point out ways to safeguard the principle of human dignity.
For him, vulnerable people, mainly women and children who still suffer from discrimination in their rights, need protection from the State.
He considers it gratifying for a country’s National Assembly to produce laws that can improve the vulnerabilities of thousands of children and women.
“We must all look at this reality and bring a family to these thousands of children who are without a family and who remain in legal and social invisibility. This is our ethical and social commitment”, said Rodrigo Pereira, who led the delegation of Brazilian jurists in the hemicycle.
He informed that IBDFAM works to protect the lives of Family Law, that is, the most vulnerable people, mainly women and children. “We are interested in thinking about the constitutional principle, which is the apex of the democratic State and the principle of human dignity.”
It is the first time that the president of IBDFAM has visited the country since the installation of the organization’s nucleus in Angola, whose president is magistrate Arlindo da Silva Castro and vice-president, lawyer Iracelma Medeiros Filipe.
The IBDFAM delegation is in Angola to participate in the 1st International Congress on Angolan Family Law, which takes place this Thursday (16) and Friday (17), in Luanda.
The meeting, which will take place at the National Institute of Public Administration, will bring together experts from both countries to debate the theme: “35 years of the Angolan Family Code”.
The Brazilian Institute of Family Law (IBDFAM) is a non-governmental, non-profit legal institution, which aims to develop and disseminate knowledge about Family Law, in addition to acting as a representative force of society with regard to their relationships and aspirations.
