Africa-Press – Angola. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Calorina Cerqueira, on Monday in Luanda deplored the recent act of violence carried out in the municipality of Galanga, central Huambo Province, which victimised MP Apolo Yakuvela and members of his delegation.
The incident occurred on May 31 when MP Apolo Yakuvela, from the UNITA parliamentary bench, was travelling through the area with his is delegation.
In a condemnation note, the parliament demands the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures both to clarify the facts and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
“We stand in solidarity with MP Apolo Yakuvela and hope that he can soon resume his role as a legitimately elected representative of the people,” reads the document.
