President João Lourenço received in audience, this Thursday, the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Demarte Pena, at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta.The award-winning Angolan athlete took the opportunity to present President João Lourenço with a trophy recently won in a competition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
“The Wolf” or Lobo, as the Angolan is known, had a record of 11 wins and 0 losses in the EFC, (South Africa), between 2011 and 2017, while in Ares FC (France), between 2022 and 2024, where he became bantamweight champion, having lost the belt to Lee Scott, on March 8, 2024, he has a record of three wins and two losses.
This is not the first time that Demarte Pena has been received at the Presidential Palace in Cidade Alta. In 2018, the MMA fighter had already been awarded the Medal of Civic and Social Merit, 1st class, by the President of the Republic, as part of the ceremonies marking the 43rd anniversary of Angola’s Independence.
The national athlete’s last fight was against Marcel Adur, in the Warriors 53 International tournament (Arabia-Africa), emerging victorious in Abu Dhabi.
