Africa-Press – Angola. The French ambassador to Ethiopia, Alexis Lamek, praised the agenda of the Angolan presidency of the African Union (AU) and reaffirmed his country’s support, as well as welcoming the African Climate Summit, which will be held in September this year in Addis Ababa.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which Jornal de Angola had access yesterday, the French diplomat made these considerations during a meeting with the Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia, Miguel Bembe.
During the meeting, the Angolan diplomat and his French counterpart discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and the priorities of Angola’s agenda in the pro-tempore Presidency of the African Union.Miguel Bembe presented the main priorities of the Angolan presidency of the AU, highlighting peace, security and good governance, infrastructure to accelerate industrialization, the implementation of the Continental Free Trade Area, the Lobito Corridor and the conditions for the movement of people, goods and services, agriculture, the blue economy, and bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
The Angolan ambassador said that the centrality of these issues on the agenda of President João Lourenço, who is also the African Union Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, will lead to the holding, in October of this year, of the Continental Conference on Infrastructure as a factor for Africa’s development and the Meeting on Conflicts in Africa, which will be held in September 2025, the latter under the Angolan Presidency of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union.
