Africa-Press – Angola. The Ombudswoman, Florbela Araújo, on Thursday in Luanda received the co-organizers and speakers of the International Conference on Environmental Education (CIEA 2025), held on the 9th and 10th of the current month in the capital.
The event took place at the National School of Administration and Public Policies (ENAPP), where Florbela Araújo participated as a speaker.
The Secretary for Environment of the State of São Paulo and federal deputy of the 1988 Constituent Assembly of Brazil, Fábio Feldmann, the Professors from the University of Salento of Italy, Dr. Michele Carducci and Dr. Maralice Cunha Verciano, the Councilor of the Court of Auditors of the State of Amazonas in Brazil, Júlio Pinheiro, the Judge of the Superior School of the Judiciary of Amazonas (Brazil), Flávio Humberto Pascarelli Lopes, were among the personalities present at the event.
The meeting aimed to deepen the exchange of experiences, identify opportunities for institutional cooperation, and define perspectives for action in the field of promoting and defending the environmental rights of citizens.
In these areas, the Ombudswoman of Angola considers it of great importance, given the need to strengthen environmental justice mechanisms and ensure compliance with the State’s ecological obligations.
The meeting allowed for the consolidation of the results of the CIEA 2025, as well as to reinforce joint initiatives for the development of environmental education, ecological citizenship and legal protection of the environment in Angola.
On the occasion, the parties expressed interest in maintaining permanent channels of dialogue and cooperation, with a view to creating programs and projects with a sustainable impact.
In the opening session of the conference, the Ombudswoman delivered a lecture entitled “The Role of the Ombuds Office in Defending the Environmental Rights of Citizens”, highlighting the importance of education, oversight, and community participation as essential pillars for more inclusive and transparent environmental governance.
