At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Head of State received welcome greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and other dignitaries present.

During the two-day meeting, João Lourenço stated that African nations find, within the BRICS, an opportunity to address issues related to financing the development of the continent and the construction of the infrastructures needed to respond to the challenges they face.

Speaking at the 17th BRICS Summit, as a guest, he stressed that countries from the Global South have, for decades, called for their inclusion in the processes of discussion and decision-making on global development factors, with fairness, balance and sensitivity to their fundamental concerns, without, to date, being fully heard. On the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit, the President of the Republic held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, and Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi.
