Speaking to the press, Esperança da Costa announced, soon, the rehabilitation of those schools, as a way to guarantee more and better accommodation conditions for teachers, students and administrative staff.

The Vice-President of the Republic informed that the process of rehabilitation of schools in Luanda should take place in two phases.

In the pilot phase, seven will be rehabilitated, while in the second, 11 will be covered, making a total of 18 schools, in a total of 344 classrooms for the benefit of 30,526 students.

Esperança da Costa said, on the occasion, that the Executive’s objective is to improve the conditions of schools and expand access to the entire population, without any type of stigma.

Regarding the visit, he said that it aimed to make a diagnosis of the current situation of the schools, as it is at the end of the school year.

Still on the visit, he said that it is part of the Executive’s intervention program to be carried out throughout the education system, above all, in terms of infrastructure and learning assessment.

“It is also a way of improving conditions and valuing the staff involved in the teaching process“, underlined the Vice-President of the Republic.

As for the responsibility of maintaining schools and physical infrastructure, he said that it should not depend only on the Executive, but on the whole of society and on the parents’ committees, in order to put an end to the acts of vandalism that are registered in some schools. .

The Girl Empowerment and Learning for All Project (PAT II), launched in 2022, should benefit six million students over the next five years and aims to contribute to improving the quality of education and teaching in the country.

One of the ideas of the PAT II project, for the next five years, is to help keep girls in the classroom. The program is budgeted at US$250 million.
