Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Monte Gordo Natural Park, on the island of São Nicolau, is holding the 13th edition of the Ecological Marathon this Sunday, 26th, as part of the celebrations of International Biodiversity Day.
The trails for this year’s event are located in the Alto das Cabaças Natural Reserve, in the town of Juncalinho, municipality of Ribeira Brava, on a route of around eight kilometers.
According to the organization, the choice of the Alto das Cabaças Natural Reserve to host this year’s marathon is due to the fact that it is one of the two protected areas on the island of São Nicolau and is still little known by people.
For this year’s edition, the organization hopes to have more than 80 people to do the trail of around eight kilometers, of “moderate difficulty”.
The event is held by the Monte Gordo Natural Park in partnership with the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on the island.
