The inauguration of the new facilities of the Museum of Cape Verde in Rhode Island marked, this Saturday, 17th, the second point of the visit of the President of the Republic of Cape Verde to the Cape Verdean community in the New England region, in the United States of America. After his participation in the Investiture of the President of the Republic of Angola, on Thursday, 15th, the President of the Republic of Cape Verde began, on Friday, 16th, a week-long visit to the United States of America.
In addition to the high point, his participation in the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, José Maria Neves has a full agenda, together with the Cape Verdean community in the United States.
Veterans Memorial Award
Yesterday, Saturday, 17th, in addition to participating in the inauguration of the new facilities of the Cape Verde Museum, in Rhode Island, the Cape Verdean Head of State awarded the Cape Verdean/American Veterans Memorial with the 1st Class medal of the Order of the Dragon tree that symbolizes the “resistance of a people”.
The ceremony, also in the State of Rhode Island, was promoted to mark the five years of the Memorial, a project built in honor of Cape Verdean patricians who served in the Defense of the United States of America.
PR at the Festival “Nha terra nha Cretcheu”
On the morning of this Sunday, 18th, José Maria Neves was at the Cape Verdean Association of Brockton and, in the afternoon, he will visit the “Nha terra nha Cretcheu” Festival of the Cape Verdean community in Pawtucket.
Talking about a transactional Cape Verde
In the coming days, 19, 20 and 21, the Head of State will participate in the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, where he promises to talk about a transnational Cape Verde, in all domains.
“I will speak at the United Nations about a transnational Cape Verde, a Cape Verde that has capacities and competences in these islands and in the diaspora, in all domains, in education, in health, in the digital transition, in the energy transition, in the development of education higher education and science”, he explained earlier in an interview.
The event, which has been taking place since Tuesday, 13th, brings together Heads of State and Government from around the world in New York, under the theme “A watershed moment: transforming solutions to interconnected challenges”, with the general debate of high level is scheduled for this Tuesday, 20.
