Santa Cruz/Education Crisis: Teachers' Salary Payment Situation will Return to Normal Next Week, Says Official

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Director General of Personnel and Organization of the Ministry of Education (DGPOG), Wilson Moreno, announced this Saturday that the payment of teachers’ salaries is expected to return to normal next week.

Moreno explained that there was a delay in the payment of salaries to approximately 585 teachers who began their duties at the beginning of the school year, but that the situation is almost regularized and the 15 teachers who have not yet received their salaries will be paid next week.

The official highlighted that the situation has generated concern at a national level, but that the ministry team has been working “hard” to stabilize payments.

According to the same source, the delays are due to procedural constraints related to administrative contracts, but he assured that measures are being implemented to prevent the situation from repeating itself next school year.

Moreno also addressed the issue of coverage by the National Institute of Social Security (INPS), stating that there are currently no delays in this regard.

Moreno said that at the beginning of the school year, there were difficulties in sending pay slips on time, but that the constraints were also due to the implementation of a new INPS database, but that this issue has now been resolved and normality has been restored.

The school community is eagerly awaiting the regularization of payments, which is essential for the motivation and performance of teachers in the classroom.
