About Us

.

Africa Press is an independent news platform with diverse interests. It was founded by a group of African journalists who studied in Arab, African, and European universities. Through collaboration and coordination among them, the platform was established to cover news from across the African continent in Arabic, French, and English.

The site is not affiliated with any governmental or private entity. It relies on the efforts of its members for management and editorial follow-up, and it remains open to any African journalist or media organization interested in becoming a partner—both financially and morally.

A portion of the website is dedicated to promoting African companies and institutions, and the revenue generated from this promotional content is used to develop the platform and support the editorial team.

Why Africa

Africa is the second-largest continent in the world, covering an area of 30 million square kilometers. It is distinguished by its diversity of civilizations, religions, and cultures. The continent is rich in natural resources, ranging from arable land and water to oil, natural gas, minerals, forests, and wildlife. Africa holds a significant share of the world’s natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable.

Africa is the source of approximately 30% of the world’s mineral reserves, 8% of global natural gas, and 12% of global oil reserves. It also possesses 40% of the world’s gold, and around 90% of global chromium and platinum. The continent holds the largest reserves of cobalt, diamonds, platinum, and uranium. Moreover, Africa has 65% of the world’s arable land and 10% of the world’s internal renewable freshwater resources.

However, due to unsustainable exploitation of its natural resources—driven by both internal and external factors—Africa loses hundreds of billions of dollars annually, according to United Nations reports. The continent remains behind in sustainable development, facing ongoing conflicts and wars that have led to extreme poverty and underdevelopment. Many development strategies have failed to deliver the expected outcomes.

In response to this reality, the website aims—through its daily news, reports, and analyses—to engage African public opinion on the importance of developing intellectual and scientific capacities, seizing available opportunities, and overcoming existing barriers to achieve meaningful progress.

Website Objectives

– To provide daily news, reports, and analyses about every African country to the African public—both within the continent and across the world—and to those interested in African affairs.

– To offer comprehensive coverage of all African countries in one place, eliminating the need to consult multiple websites.

– To create a free media space for writers to publish their opinions and articles.

– To revive Africa’s diverse cultures and instill a sense of patriotism in the hearts of African youth.

– To equip African officials and decision-makers with professional data, reports, and analyses that support informed decision-making on issues that matter to them.

– To produce and publish high-quality editions and publications.

Team Members

The Africa Press team is made up of dozens of editors, correspondents, and writers spread across various countries on the continent.
