Gabon Signs Three Economic Deals with the UAE

The Gabonese presidency announced the signing of three new memorandums of understanding with the United Arab Emirates, a move reflecting President Oligui Nguema’s strategic vision to diversify the economy and strengthen Gabon’s position as a reliable and attractive investment partner in Africa.

The agreements were concluded on the sidelines of high-level talks held in Abu Dhabi. According to a presidential statement, they cover the mining, digital technology and logistics sectors, underscoring the commitment of the President of the Republic, Head of State and Government, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, to promote structural partnerships focused on economic transformation, local value creation and sustainable development, while enhancing Gabon’s standing on the international stage.

In the mining sector, the Minister of Mines and Geological Resources, Sosthène Nguema Nguema, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Emirati company Admog Gold, represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Omar Alfi.

The agreement covers the exploration, development and marketing of gold in mineral-rich areas of Gabon. The company reaffirmed its commitment to responsible mining development in line with international environmental and social standards.

In the digital sector, the Minister of Digital Economy, Marc Alexandre Doumba, renewed a memorandum of understanding with Presight, a subsidiary of the G42 Group, in the presence of its CEO, Thana Pramotedham.

The partnership aims to support the digital transformation of public administration and government services through artificial intelligence technologies, advanced analytics and big data solutions, strengthening the country’s digital sovereignty and contributing to the modernization of public services.

In the ports, transport and logistics sector, the Minister of State for Transport, Merchant Marine and Logistics, Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, signed a memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi Ports, represented by its Regional Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Eida Tanaf Al Menhali.

The Emirati company is among the world’s leading port operators and has extensive expertise in developing integrated solutions for ports, economic zones and trade corridors.

Through these three agreements, Gabon reaffirms its determination to pursue its economic diversification strategy, accelerate structural transformation and enhance its integration into international value chains, relying on balanced, effective and sustainable partnerships.

These signings also extend ongoing discussions between the President of the Republic and the President of the United Arab Emirates, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations and a shared commitment to promoting mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the two countries.
