Africa-Press. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung held a summit with Ghanaian President John Mahama, during which the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation in climate, digital innovation, and maritime security.

The leaders witnessed the signing of three agreements, including a cooperation agreement on climate change, a memorandum of understanding on technology and digital innovation, and a separate memorandum of understanding on maritime safety and security between the South Korean Coast Guard and the Ghanaian Navy.

Lee thanked the Ghanaian navy for protecting South Korean citizens in the Gulf of Guinea, stressing that the new maritime agreement will strengthen security coordination.

Mahama said Ghana has significant reserves of bauxite, manganese, gold, lithium, and nickel, and hopes to establish a partnership with South Korea to jointly explore these resources and enhance cooperation across the value chain.

The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in economic security, agriculture, education, culture, and critical minerals, and exchanged views on regional and global issues, including tensions in the Middle East.
