Africa-Press. The leader of the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has threatened to target any Israeli presence in Somaliland using all available means, asserting that Yemen “will not remain idle in the face of any Israeli presence in Somaliland and will not wait for the complacent.”

This statement was made in a video message from al-Houthi broadcast by a local source affiliated with the group.

He stated, “There is careful monitoring of the situation in Somaliland and what the enemy seeks to do in turning it into a foothold to control the Gulf of Aden, the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, and the Red Sea.”

Al-Houthi urged the Islamic nation and the countries bordering the Red Sea to “take a united stance to prevent the enemy from achieving this,” emphasizing that Yemen “will act at any moment the enemy establishes any presence to target it using all available means.”

He called on governments to “improve the situation in Somalia and care for the Somali brotherly people, supporting them in facing the Israeli enemy’s targeting.”

On June 15, the President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, alongside the Israeli Foreign Minister, inaugurated an embassy for the region in occupied Jerusalem.

In December 2025, Israel announced its recognition of the separatist region, which was rejected by the federal government in Mogadishu and sparked widespread regional and international criticism of Tel Aviv.

Prior to this Israeli recognition, the region had not received any official recognition since declaring independence from Somalia in 1991, and it has been functioning as an independent entity administratively, politically, and security-wise.
