Programmes

The inability of the organisation to collect all rates billed, impacted negatively, on the organisation’s ability to implement planned programmes and capital improvement projects. As a result, we were forced to secure a loan of E16.5m from Standard Bank, in order to finance the construction of three roads. The CIP loan will be repaid over a 5-year period on a bi-annual basis, beginning December 2023.

The CIP loan repayment has since been budgeted for in the year 2024/25 to the tune of E4 483 642.62. This obligation limits the council to budget for other CIP in the next three years. This current financial year, the organisation has a budget income of E25 116 327.57, to date (as of September 30 2023) E12 860 208.04 has been collected, government has paid E7 203 222.00 (35 per cent) of E16 033 385 budgeted rates bill.
