REPS APPLAUDS PUBLIC FOR COOPERATION DURING UMHLANGA

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) appreciates the level of cooperation and cultured behaviour displayed by Emaswati and members of the public during the Umhlanga Reed Dance ceremony.

The annual cultural event for maidens was a resounding success with the last installment held at Mbangweni Royal Residence over the past weekend.

Such success can be attributed to members of the public and peace loving citizens who exhibited behaviour and cooperation that was beyond reproach. Members of the reps, Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (EUDF) and His Majesty’s Correctional Service (HMCS) were deployed in strategic areas throughout the duration of the national cultural event to ensure safety.

Despite the main and Shiselweni events being held weeks apart unlike in previous years, Emaswati continued to cooperate and work together with the police service throughout the duration of the events and this is appreciated.

Imbali from various parts of the country arrived on Friday for the Shiselweni installment of the cultural event and they delivered the reeds to Their Majesties on Saturday.

Sunday was the main day and despite the cold weather, the maidens displayed well-rehearsed dance routines.

Imbali from REPS was also present at the Shiselweni event and once again displayed a splendid display of well-orchestrated dancing skills. This is testament that the police service upholds and appreciates the significance of culture in shaping up society’s moral fiber which plays a key role in the fight against crime.

The Shiselweni event, which was preceded by the Ludzidzini Royal Residence Umhlanga Reed Dance (August 29 to September 4), marked the end of a successful and accident-free ceremony, which is an annual event as the maidens arrived and returned home safe.

Worth noting is that both events attracted attendance from maidens even from neighboring countries who came to honor culture.
