Africa-Press – Namibia. PREMIUM Namibian beef is expanding its presence in Germany, with Namibian rump steak set to feature as a monthly special at all Block House steak restaurants, a prominent chain with 42 locations across Germany, from 20 September 2025.
“We are always looking to offer our guests something special. Namibian beef brings both quality and a compelling story of origin. It’s a perfect fit for our brand and our customers,” Markus Gutendorff, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Block House Restaurantbetriebe AG, said.
Catherine Shipushu, Senior Manager of Marketing, Branding and Communications at the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), revealed that the agreement was secured with Eugen Block Holding GmbH, one of Germany’s owner-managed hospitality companies. The NIPDB played a key role in facilitating the process.
“The agreement was secured with Eugen Block Holding GmbH, one of Germany’s leading owner-managed hospitality companies. The company currently operates 47 Block House steakhouses across Germany, as well as several locations of its Jim Block burger brand. This milestone is the culmination of efforts to secure a consistent supply of Namibian beef in the German market, a collaboration between Namibian beef producers, South Trade GmbH and Eugen Block Holding GmbH,” Shipushu explained.
She added that the introduction of Namibian beef into the Block House offering supports NIPDB’s broader objective of promoting Namibian products globally and positioning the country as a trusted source of premium, safe, and sustainably produced food.
“Namibian beef stands out not only for its quality, but for the values behind it, being free-range, grass-fed, high animal welfare factors and sustainably produced. We are proud to have helped bring this exceptional product to one of Europe’s most respected restaurant groups,” said Valentin Külbs, Managing Director of South Trade GmbH.
