Africa-Press – Namibia. PRESIDENT Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held a bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Joseph Carney on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two leaders reflected on the longstanding friendship between Namibia and Canada, adding their historic ties and commitment to mutual respect. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas including energy transition, sustainable mining, climate resilience, human rights, and people-to-people exchanges.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed Namibia’s dedication to raising global awareness about the Convention to Combat Desertification, stressing its importance for nations facing the effects of climate change. Prime Minister Carney welcomed Namibia’s efforts and assured Canada’s support in advancing their shared priorities.
