Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a nine-count indictment against Abu Kamara, former Finance Manager in the Customs Department of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), for possession of unexplained wealth contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.

According to the ACC, Kamara, who earned an annual net salary of Le152,790 (new Leones), is alleged to be in control and ownership of assets grossly disproportionate to his official earnings. Investigations revealed that between 1st March 2019 and 31st June 2025, he allegedly acquired a range of properties and vehicles valued far beyond his lawful income.

The alleged assets include:

A registered company, UK Trading Mini Mart SL Ltd, with outlets in Ogoo Farm, Kobba Farm, and along the Bo-Kenema Highway.

Ten town lots of land in Gloucester Village, Western Area, valued at Le 505,000.

Multiple buildings, including one-storey, three-storey, and four-storey properties in Ogoo Farm, Black Johnson, and Babadorie Hills.

A Nissan vehicle (Le 60,000) and a white Hyundai Jeep (Le 300,000).

The ACC believes Kamara cannot provide lawful justification for acquiring these assets, which it says are significantly at odds with his declared income.

The Commission further disclosed that Kamara is currently at large. In line with Section 89(7)(a) of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019, the ACC will apply for his trial in absentia.

The ACC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public resources and fighting corruption in Sierra Leone.
