Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The British High Commissioner’s Alumni Caravan made a stop at the Ministry of Communication, Technology, and Innovation to honour Madam Aminata Irene Omaru Tholley, a distinguished Commonwealth alum and key figure in Sierra Leone’s digital transformation efforts.
British High Commissioner Josephine Gauld is currently touring the country to engage with Chevening and Commonwealth alumni, highlighting their achievements and celebrating their contributions as part of the UK’s soft power outreach in Sierra Leone.
Madam Tholley, who has previously served as Chief Technology Officer across three ministries, now holds the position of Deputy Director of Policy, Planning, and Compliance. She is playing a leading role in national digital reforms, including the development of the Digital Government Bill, DSTI Bill, SALPOST Bill and Policy, Open-Source Policy, Email Policy, Acceptable ICT User Guidelines, AI Diagnostics Assessment, and Development Partners Roundtable Engagements.
Her appointment followed the Minister’s intentional drive to have more women leading directorates within the Ministry, a move that reflects a deeper commitment to inclusive, values-driven leadership in Sierra Leone’s digital transformation.
Finally, Commissioner Gauld stated that Madam Tholley is a Commonwealth Scholar, TechWomen Fellow, and tireless public servant. She reminds us that when women lead, systems change.
