Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Ministry of Youth Affairs, in collaboration with key stakeholders, hosted a one-day National Conference at the Bintumani International Conference Centre to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day.

The event, held under the theme “Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture, Skills, and Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” reflects the vital role of young people in driving national development.

Ibrahim Sannoh, the Minister of Youth Affairs, led the commemoration, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in shaping a sustainable future.

In his opening statement, he asserted that “young people are not just the future, they are the leaders and change-makers of today.”

The keynote address was delivered by Madam Kenyeh Barley, Minister of Planning and Economic Development. In her speech, she congratulated the youth for their contributions and stressed the significance of their role in Sierra Leone’s growth.

“Today is a celebration of your efforts in enhancing global society and promoting ways to engage you in making positive contributions to your communities,” she stated.

The conference brought together various organizations and stakeholders, marking the golden jubilee celebration of International Youth Day. Discussions focused on the themes of digital innovation and sustainable development, reinforcing the message that young people are proactive drivers of change.
