SLFA Congress Security Measures Displace Benjamin Gordon

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Barrister and Chairman of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA), Benjamin Gordon, popularly known as Dididor, was forcibly removed from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) ordinary congress hall by security personnel on Saturday.

The incident reportedly occurred amid escalating tensions during the underway electoral process, which started on Saturday morning, August 2nd, 2025, in Lungi.

Gordon, reportedly argued that the current SLFA president, Thomas Daddy Brima, should be present to lead the electoral congress, citing constitutional provisions that support his claim. His insistence on Brima’s presence sparked a heated exchange with officials, ultimately disrupting the congress for over four hours.

Despite attempts by authorities to de-escalate the situation, Gordon reportedly refused to comply, leading to his eventual ejection from the hall. Eyewitness accounts describe his behavior as “tyrannical and violent,” which contributed to the decision to remove him.

The congress, intended to facilitate the electoral process for the football association, was notably impacted by Gordon’s actions, raising concerns about the stability of football governance in Sierra Leone.
