Africa-Press – Tanzania. A new era is beckoning for Tanzania as President Samia Suluhu Hassan prepares to officially launch the Tanzania Development Vision 2050 (TDV 2050) in the capital city, Dodoma, on July 17 this year

Planning Minister Prof Kitila Mkumbo revealed this during a meeting with editors from various media houses held in Dar es Salaam yesterday, saying preparations of the key document, themed ‘the Tanzania We Want’, had been completed.

“This will mark a crucial and historic day for the country’s development vision,” said Prof Mkumbo, noting that the Vision document passed all key stages, including endorsement in Parliament and cabinet.

“This will be the second time the country writes a non-partisan national development endeavours, the first was the 2000-2025 under the lafe former President Benjamin Mkapa and now President Samia has the honour to launch Tanzania’s next development vision,” he added.

Prof Mkumbo said the preparation of Vision 2050 was participatory, with strong representation from all segments of Tanzanian society, including political parties.

According to the minister it was agreed that political party election manifestos would be guided by TDV 2050.

He added that parliamentary endorsement and a formal resolution would help safeguard the document from being altered during its implementation, noting that at least three Presidents are expected to oversee the execution of the vision.

TDV 2050 builds on the achievements and lessons of Development Vision 2025, while adapting to emerging global dynamics to position the country as a leading development force in Africa and beyond.

The new vision outlines an ambitious blueprint for the nation’s future and provides a roadmap for achieving it.

The vision aims to create a prosperous, equitable, and resilient Tanzania that meets the needs of its people and addresses the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

The main goals include steering the country towards a strong, inclusive, and diversified upper-middle-income economy. It aims to end all forms of poverty, with special focus on women, youth, and people with disabilities, while promoting balanced development across all regions.

TDV 2050 also focuses on improving the quality of life for all Tanzanians. This includes better access to education, healthcare, and social services, as well as promoting peace, unity, and respect for cultural diversity.

The vision also seeks to unleash the potential of women and the growing youth population to drive national development, while participating in global affairs creatively, confidently, and actively.

TDV 2050 further aims to enhance good governance, transparency, and accountability, promote peace, freedom, and security, and ensure sustainable management of natural resources while building resilience to climate change.

TDV 2050 is a clear roadmap for a prosperous and inclusive future for every Tanzanian.
