Africa-Press – Tanzania. DODOMA District Commissioner Jabir Shekimweri has congratulated the Police Force for serving the public by offering free medical services through its Dodoma-based Police Health Centre.
The health facility offered free medical services in a campaign that was conducted over the weekend during which Dodoma residents were offered opportunity to undergo tests and diagnosis of various diseases such as diabetes, kidney, heart, prostate and other ailments affecting mouth and teeth.
DC Shekimweri said by conducting the medical campaign that cost 30m/-, the Police Force showed high level patriotism and brought relief to the people and reduced the burden of medical expenses that some might have shouldered if they went to other hospitals.
“Personally, I am pleased and satisfied that you have done this work with patriotism,” he expressed.
“Police have implemented this project at a low cost, let me assure you that the government is ready to support you in this important initiative because you have supported the government’s efforts in serving the people,” the DC added.
He called upon Dodoma residents to show up in large numbers when such favours emerge near their areas, as the opportunities help them to know their health status.
DC Shekimweri hinted that the government has provided 500m/- to start the construction of Nala District Hospital in Dodoma.
The DC capitalised on the opportunity to urge citizens to come forward and fully participate in the coming national population and housing census slated for 23rd this month.
“The census is very important, let’s turn up to be counted so that development programmes are well planned, including the improvement of health services, “he said.
Briefing the DC and his delegation, head of the health centre, Redemta Kisima, mentioned challenges facing the facility as lack of buildings, especially the maternity ward, specialist doctors and the operating room.
