Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR President, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has called on Tanzanians to receive the newly launched Vision 2050 with great optimism, describing it as a comprehensive framework to boost economic growth and improve the well-being of every citizen.

Speaking today, 17 July 2025, at the official launch of Vision 2050 at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre in Dodoma, Dr. Mwinyi emphasized the critical role of public understanding and engagement in achieving the aspirations outlined in the national blueprint.

“Vision 2050 carries a bold ambition to transform our economy and society. Every Tanzanian must understand their role in implementing this vision. It is not just a government agenda, but a national mission that requires collective effort,” said Dr. Mwinyi in his keynote address to thousands of attendees, including citizens, development partners, and diplomats.

Dr. Mwinyi noted that Tanzania possesses all the necessary foundations to achieve the targets laid out in the Vision, including a young and dynamic population, abundant natural resources, political stability, and regional integration.

He further commended the inclusive approach taken during the formulation of the Vision, applauding the Ministry of Planning in both Mainland and Zanzibar for their coordination. He recognized the leadership of Minister of State in the President’s Office (Planning and Investment), Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, and Zanzibar’s Minister of State in the President’s Office (Finance and Planning), Dr. Saada Mkuya, for ensuring the voices and aspirations of Tanzanians were meaningfully incorporated.

“The process was thorough, participatory, and reflective of our shared hopes as a nation. I congratulate the technical and leadership teams for their dedication in developing a vision that speaks to the future of both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar,” Dr. Mwinyi said.

Vision 2050 is Tanzania’s long-term development framework aimed at transforming the country into a resilient, competitive, and inclusive upper-middle-income economy by mid-century. It focuses on industrialization, innovation, green growth, and human capital development.
