Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA has significant potential to attain upper-middle-income status by the year 2050, provided that citizens increase their efforts and productivity in economic activities, the Minister of State in the President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Professor Kitila Mkumbo stated.
Speaking today, July 17, 2025, during the official launch of the National Development Vision 2050 held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre (JKCC) in Dodoma, Prof. Kitila explained that the Vision aims to raise the country’s average income per person to USD 7,000 per year, which is equivalent to an average of 50,000/- per day.
“With our current economic situation, if we work hard and improve our efficiency, we can reach an average income of 7,000 US dollars per person annually by 2050. That translates to about 50,000/- per day,” said Prof. Kitila.
He further emphasized that achieving this goal will require strong collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the general public, along with robust policies to strengthen the economy and reduce poverty.
