Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) continues to demonstrate reliability and professionalism on the global stage, particularly through its participation in various United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Speaking today in Dar es Salaam during the closing ceremony of a two-week training program for military instructors, Major General Amri Salim Mwami said Tanzania has remained a key partner of the United Nations in promoting peace and stability around the world. The training was conducted at the Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Centre (TPTC) and involved officers from several different countries.

“This training is aimed at promoting global peace, and it is a great honor for our country that Tanzania’s military academy is increasingly trusted to offer such international programs,” said Major General Mwami.

On his part, the Commandant of TPTC, Brigadier General George Mwita Itang’are, stated that the primary goal of the training was to build the capacity of military instructors so that they can effectively train UN staff officers to carry out their responsibilities in peacekeeping missions.

United Nations Training Coordinator, Colonel Ibrahim Abdul from Nigeria, also emphasized that the training was designed to equip participants with a broader understanding of the operational environment and challenges faced during peacekeeping operations, ensuring they are well-prepared and skilled when deployed.

Canadian High Commissioner to Tanzania, Emily Burns, who also attended the ceremony, affirmed her country’s continued support for peace initiatives and cooperation with Tanzania. “We believe that through this partnership and Tanzania’s contribution, the United Nations has real hope of achieving a peaceful and secure world,” said High Commissioner Burns.

The special course, which began on July 7, 2025, concluded today with notable success. It brought together 21 participants from Tanzania, Zambia, Ghana, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Botswana.
