Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Judge Jacobs Mwambegele, has inspected the 83 polling stations out of 90 stations that have been specifically allocated for residents of the former wards of Ilangu, Ipwaga, Bulamata, and Mishamo, all located in the Tanganyika District Council in Katavi Region.

The visited wards were abolished by the Minister responsible for Local Government in accordance with the Local Government (District Authorities) Act, Chapter 287.

In his inspection, the Judge was accompanied by the Katavi Regional Election Coordinator, the Tanganyika Constituency Election Supervisor, and other election officials, to assess the preparations ahead of the General Elections for the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors heading to Wednesday, October 29, 2025 polls.

Speaking during the inspection today, Judge Mwambegele said his tour of the areas aimed to see the progress and preparations of the polling stations since the Commission’s announcement of the relocation of some polling stations outside refugee settlements.

According to the Chairman, the Commission had issued announcements in the abolished areas and established polling stations in nearby locations.

The Tanganyika Constituency Election Supervisor, Kagemlo Mutagwaba, said voters from the abolished wards have been mobilized and have shown readiness to turn out and vote in the new designated areas.

Tanzanians are expected to vote in the General Election for the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors on October 29, 2025, under the theme “Your Vote Is Your Right, Come Out and Vote.”
