The President of Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has directed the leadership of the Zanzibar Research Centre for Economic, Social and Policy Analysis (ZRCP) to organize meetings and forums that will bring together various stakeholders to educate them on the importance of using research findings in the execution of their responsibilities.
Dr Mwinyi issued the directive today, March 24, 2026, during a meeting with the Centre’s Director General, Juma Hassan Reli, and his delegation at the State House in Zanzibar. During the discussions, he emphasized that evidence-based research is critical in improving policy decisions and enhancing the effectiveness of development planning and implementation.
He also highlighted the need to improve digital payment registration systems to enhance transparency and efficiency, particularly in the public sector. He further advised a review of the policies, laws, and regulations governing the sector to align them with evolving technology and current demands.
For his part, ZRCP Director General Juma Hassan Reli welcomed the recommendations, stating that the institution is ready to collaborate with the government in providing research and policy proposals aimed at improving digital payment systems. He added that this cooperation will also support the review of policies, laws, and regulations to strengthen transparency and efficiency in the public sector.
