"Angola won with Argentina'S Presence"

Africa-Press – Angola. President João Lourenço considered that Angola “emerged victorious” from the friendly match against Argentina, held on Friday in Luanda, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, despite the 2-0 defeat.

President João Lourenço , who was speaking to the press upon leaving the stadium, said that the camaraderie, the presence of the world champion team and forward Lionel Messi were, in themselves, a source of pride for the country.

The President said he appreciated the performance of the national team, despite the missed goal opportunities.

“I liked it. We missed some opportunities, but the next one will be better. We will prepare better”, he stated.

In turn, the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, also highlighted the atmosphere in the stadium and the commitment of the Angolan team.

“I watched a good game, with the world champions on the field and our players responding well. We had many opportunities and didn’t score them, but, as the President said, Angola won and all Angolans deserve congratulations”, she said.

The friendly match, part of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of Independence, strengthened sporting exchanges between the two countries and gave the Angolan public the opportunity to see the current world champions play for the first time on national soil.
