Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Vice-Governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, Franco Mufinda, reiterated his appeal to motorists to prioritize prudence while driving, in order to avoid traffic accidents and consequently deaths and injuries.
According to the official, in recent times there have been frequent traffic accidents resulting from non-compliance with driving rules, recklessness and other factors that must be taken into consideration in order to preserve human lives.
Speaking after the march to denounce accidents, on the occasion of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, observed, the official urged families and drivers to reflect on this phenomenon and on the lives lost over time as a result of accidents.He considered that each human life interrupted by accident or other factor marks the end of a story and a social journey, in addition to causing pain to families, hence the need to act with greater firmness and responsibility while driving.
“Accidents continue to cause deaths, serious injuries and profound social impacts,” he stressed, adding that there is an urgent need to respect speed limits and use safety accessories.
In turn, the delegate of the Association of Motorcycle Taxi Drivers and Transporters of Angola (AMOTRANG), Heth Caculo, urged members to heed the appeals of government authorities and the National Police, as well as to redouble their responsibility on public roads.He emphasized the need to always prioritize safe, fair, and courteous driving, highlighting that, for this reason, the Association regularly conducts awareness campaigns and training sessions on the highway code for motorcycle taxi drivers.
He also revealed the existence of approximately nine thousand motorcycle taxi drivers in the province, many of whom are unregistered, and therefore called for them to legalize their activity within the framework of the law.
The secretary of the Malanje Taxi Drivers Association (ATM), Andrade Domingos, expressed the class’s commitment to defensive driving and the promotion of peace on the roads.
The march was attended by government officials, motorists, and citizens from various social strata and aimed to reprimand violations of driving rules and appeal for responsible and defensive driving.
Data from the Provincial Department of Traffic and Road Safety indicates that this year there have been 229 road accidents, resulting in 73 deaths and 408 injuries, in addition to material damage.Alongside the march, the date was marked with an exhibition of wrecked vehicles and posters reflecting the severity of accidents and the resources used by the National Police for road safety prevention.
