Africa-Press – Angola. The National Junior Women’s Handball Team defeated Algeria 23-16 this Thursday and is in the semifinals of the 32nd African Handball Championship, taking place in Oran, Algeria.
The defending champions led 13-7 at halftime, in a match in which team captain Balbina Nunda was named MVP.
Despite the victory, Angola finishes the regular season in second place with six points and will face Egypt on Friday at 4 p.m.
The match, the fourth and final round of Group B, was played at the Bil El Djir pavilion. With this victory, Angola secured its place in the next World Championship, the location of which has yet to be determined.
In the other semifinal, Guinea will face Tunisia at 6 p.m.The Angolan champions lost their debut match 21-26 to Guinea, beat Kenya 41-26 in the second round, and beat Mali 42-12.
