With this result, Zambia now has two points from two draws, temporarily placing them second in the group, awaiting the other match between Morocco and Mali. Meanwhile, Comoros earned their first point in the tournament.

The match, held at the “Mohammed V” Stadium in Casablanca, was characterized by competitiveness and balance between the two teams, with Comoros having a slight edge in play and more attempts to threaten the opponent’s goal, particularly in the first half.

The referee disallowed a goal for Comoros in the 19th minute, scored by Mizani Maouida, after a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) due to a foul against Yassine Berhan during the buildup to the goal.

Zambia faces a challenging task against the host nation, Morocco, in the third and final round on Monday, while Comoros will play against Mali, with both teams having a chance to qualify depending on other results.

Morocco is hosting the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time in its history, having previously done so in 1988, from December 21 to January 18, with 24 teams participating across six groups.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is a premier football tournament held every two years, featuring national teams from across Africa. The 2025 edition, hosted by Morocco, marks the 35th occurrence of the tournament, which has been a significant event in African sports since its inception in 1957. Morocco previously hosted the tournament in 1988, making this the second time they welcome teams to compete for the continental title.
