Africa-Press. The Senegalese Football Federation released a video showing “Lions of Teranga” coach Pape Thiaw presenting the Africa Cup of Nations trophy alongside a real lion, as part of the federation’s trophy tour across the country.
Photos and video footage shared on Tuesday showed the coach accompanied by an official delegation from the Senegalese Football Federation at the “Kédougou Bioparc” wildlife park in the east of the country.
The visit included a symbolic encounter between the coach and the lion “Sondiaté,” described as the official icon of the complex, which includes natural areas and a zoo—an image linking the national team’s nickname with a national symbol.
Senegal won the 2025 AFCON after defeating Morocco 1-0 in the final of the tournament hosted in Morocco and concluded last month.
