Sudan: Drone Attack Hits Hospital, Killing Civilians

Africa-Press. The “Sudanese Doctors” network reported early Monday that a drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed and injured several people at Al-Mazmoum Hospital in Sennar State, southeast Sudan, late Sunday night.

In a statement, the medical group said that “an RSF drone targeted the hospital on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of three people and the injury of seven others, including a healthcare worker.”

The group added that “targeting health facilities is a blatant violation of international laws that prohibit attacks on medical centers and health workers,” noting that “such incidents increase civilians’ suffering and deprive residents of access to medical care.” It held the RSF leadership “fully responsible” for the attack on the hospital.

Sudanese authorities and human rights organizations have accused the RSF of targeting civilian facilities, while the RSF has not responded to these allegations.

On February 10, the World Health Organization warned that “Sudan’s health system is under attack once again” after three health facilities were targeted in South Kordofan State during the first week of the month.
