Africa-Press. Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed his counterpart from Congo-Brazzaville, Denis Sassou Nguesso, in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. This visit marks Sassou Nguesso’s first foreign trip since his re-election, during which both sides expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and signing new agreements in the coming months.

The visit coincides with the sixtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Brazzaville, reflecting both parties’ desire to deepen their partnership, particularly in economic and strategic areas.

Putin emphasized the promising prospects for developing relations between the two countries, noting that cooperation could encompass various fields, including geological exploration, energy, logistics, agriculture, and other sectors.

He also highlighted the readiness of Russian companies to operate within the Congolese market, citing what he described as the stability of the internal political situation, which he considered a crucial factor for attracting investments and creating promising business opportunities.

During the meeting, Putin recalled the history of relations between the two countries, mentioning the signing of the first cooperation agreement between Moscow and Brazzaville in 1981. He affirmed that bilateral relations have continued to evolve since then, characterizing them as comprehensive and distinguished friendship.

For his part, Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso announced the signing of new cooperation agreements between the two countries in September in the capital, Brazzaville. This initiative is part of a joint work program extending over three years, aimed at strengthening bilateral partnership and expanding areas of cooperation between the Republic of Congo and Russia.
