Africa-Press. The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Atti, emphasized the importance of adhering to the negotiation track between the United States and Iran, which ensures the end of the war in the region.

This statement came during a phone call with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, where they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and the latest developments in the regional situation.

The two ministers exchanged views regarding the developments in the region, with Abdel Atti informing his Italian counterpart about the intensive efforts undertaken by Egypt in recent times to de-escalate tensions in coordination with regional and international partners. He stressed the importance of sticking to the negotiation track to ensure a ceasefire and end the war while alleviating regional tensions.

The call also addressed the developments in the Gaza Strip, where Abdel Atti emphasized that the current escalation in the region should not distract from the necessity of completing all obligations of the second phase of the American plan, including the deployment of international stabilization forces, ensuring the unobstructed flow of humanitarian aid, and initiating early recovery and reconstruction programs.

Regarding Lebanon, the Egyptian minister reaffirmed Cairo’s steadfast position supporting Lebanon and rejecting any infringement on its sovereignty or territorial integrity. He stressed the need for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and the implementation of Resolution 1701 without selectivity.

For his part, the Italian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of relations with Egypt and the necessity of de-escalating tensions in the region, emphasizing that diplomatic solutions are the option to support security and stability in the region and the world.
