Libya Celebrates Diversity and Women’S Role

Africa-Press. The Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Intisar Aboud, participated in a community session held in Shahat at the invitation of a local development organization, celebrating the International Day for Cultural Diversity under the theme “Libya… Multiple Civilizations and Cultures.” The event was attended by a group of cultural and community stakeholders, representatives of official institutions, and civil society organizations.

The minister emphasized that the International Day for Cultural Diversity represents an opportunity to affirm the importance of diversity as a source of strength, unity, and richness for communities. She noted that Libya is rich in a diverse cultural and civilizational heritage that reflects the depth of its history and its unifying national identity.

She also highlighted the pivotal role that Libyan women play in preserving cultural heritage and transmitting human and national values across generations. She affirmed that fostering a culture of dialogue, coexistence, and acceptance of others begins within the family and through women’s roles in education, awareness, and community peacebuilding.

She pointed out the importance of supporting cultural and community initiatives that contribute to reinforcing values of plurality and tolerance, which enhance the collective national identity, strengthen social cohesion, and serve the path of development and stability.

At the conclusion of the session, the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs expressed her gratitude to the local development organization and its president, Iman Al-Arida, for organizing this meaningful initiative, appreciating the efforts of all participants in promoting a culture of dialogue and diversity, and reinforcing values that make culture a bridge for communication and creativity.
