His remarks came during a speech broadcast on state television, addressing the nation on the occasion of the 65th Independence Day. He stated, “We are being watched, and people are following us; we have no choice but to succeed.”
Regarding the security situation, the president explained that the armed forces conducted a series of “extensive military operations” over the past year in areas previously considered strongholds for armed groups.
He confirmed that these operations resulted in the recovery of several regions within just one month, with no reported casualties among the army, aside from minor injuries.
He added that “the fighters who considered those areas their refuge have been expelled, and they now face two options: flee Burkina Faso or die,” stressing that military operations will continue until the country’s borders are fully secured.
