He added, “Indeed, no new confirmed cases have been recorded for 45 consecutive days.”

It is worth mentioning that previous Ebola outbreaks resulted in over a thousand deaths between 2018 and 2020 in Eastern Congo.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has faced multiple outbreaks of Ebola since the virus was first identified in 1976. The 16th outbreak, which began recently, has been particularly challenging, with significant public health implications. Previous outbreaks have resulted in thousands of deaths, underscoring the need for robust health responses and vaccination campaigns to control the spread of the virus. The country’s health infrastructure continues to be tested by various infectious diseases, including cholera and monkeypox, which remain prevalent in the region.
