Algeria: Union De La Capitale Wins "Classico Final" Cup

Africa-Press. Union De La Capitale has reinforced its record by winning the Algerian Cup for the tenth time in its history, after defeating its rival, Chabab Belouizdad, 2-1 in the final match held at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.

This marks the 19th time Union De La Capitale has reached the final of the Algerian Cup, having faced Chabab Belouizdad seven times. This victory marks the fourth defeat for Belouizdad against its rival, as Union De La Capitale repeated last season’s scenario by overcoming the same opponent in the final, confirming its superiority in their encounters.

Goals of the Match

Union De La Capitale opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Dramane Kamajati, following a through ball from his teammate Ibrahim Ben Zaza, unleashing a powerful shot that found the net.

Union De La Capitale continued its offensive despite Chabab Belouizdad’s attempts to get back into the game, adding a second goal just before the end of the first half by Ahmed Khaldi in the 44th minute, with a shot that settled in the goal after a mistake by goalkeeper Farid Chaal.

After the changes made by the coaching staff of Chabab Belouizdad, introducing Bilal Boukrichaoui and Lotfi Boussouar, the team’s play improved somewhat.

As the second half began, Belouizdad pushed forward to reduce the deficit, which they achieved in the 62nd minute when Younes Wassef scored a well-placed header, benefiting from a free kick taken by Abdel Raouf Ben Ghaith.

However, Union De La Capitale managed to maintain its defensive solidity in the remaining minutes, securing the win and claiming the title.

This victory serves as a significant morale boost for Union De La Capitale ahead of the African Confederation Cup final, where they are set to face Egyptian club Zamalek.
