Africa. On Sunday evening, a match took place between the national teams of Cameroon and South Africa as part of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Morocco.
The match was held at the “Agdal City” stadium during the Round of 16 of the AFCON, where Cameroon emerged victorious with a score of 2-1.
South Africa dominated the first half of the match, holding 58% possession. However, they conceded a goal after 34 minutes of play.
The goal for Cameroon came from player Junior Tchamadeu, following a pass from his teammate Samuel Eto’o. Video technology confirmed the validity of the goal.
Cameroon managed to score a second goal against South Africa in the 47th minute, with player Christian Kouame heading the ball into the net.
South Africa was able to score their first goal against Cameroon in the 88th minute, thanks to player Evidence Makgoba, who received a pass from his teammate Aubrey Modiba. This late goal allowed Bafana Bafana to reduce the deficit, but it was not enough to change the outcome of the match.
With this result, Cameroon qualifies for the quarter-finals of the AFCON, where they will meet Morocco, the host nation, who also advanced after a hard-fought victory over Tanzania, winning 1-0 on Sunday.
