Nigeria finally broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a goal from Ademola Lookman, followed by a second goal from Osimhen five minutes later. Mozambique struggled to respond, ending the first half down 2-0.
The second half saw Nigeria add a third goal just two minutes in, again from Osimhen, putting them in a commanding position. Mozambique needed to score three goals to level the match, but they were unable to find their rhythm. Nigeria continued to press for more goals, and in the 75th minute, Akor Adams scored the fourth goal with a powerful shot from inside the box, sealing the match at 4-0. Nigeria will face the winner of the Algeria vs. Democratic Republic of Congo match in the quarter-finals, scheduled for Tuesday, January 6, at 5 PM local time at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
