First Certified Referee Assessors Training Wraps Up At NTTC

The first ever Referee Assessors Training Course funded by the Gambia Football Federation came to a close on Friday 25th October 2019 at the GFF National Technical Training Centre in Yundum.

The five days workshop brought together former Referees that are currently serving as Assessors at the domestic League while also including Retired Referees from the Seven Regional Associations.

Declaring the ceremony close, GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo said, the training is the first of it’s kind in the Gambia and as such “we are very lucky to have Flix Tangawarima as instructor for good reasons hence the success of the Training”.

Mr Bajo thanked the course instructor and all the participants for their commitment and passion and assured them of his Executive’s continues support at all times. “I want to once again reassure you of The Gambia Football Federation’s support under my leadership. We will not relent in our efforts to continue developing refereeing in all aspects hence our efforts to look for this course”, Mr Bajo said a similar course will be organised next year by CAF. “‘I am happy that, early next year we will benefit from another Training because we already have an approval of a similar course at the level of CAF and we are doing everything possible with the assistance of Felix so that we can access that course to accelerate on the development of your capacity”.

Course Instructor Felix Tangawarima gave a summary of what they have been doing for the past five days and expressed satisfaction with the performance of the participants. He thanked the GFF for the support received during the training period. “I want to say that your support to the Referees Department is evident by your presence and that of your Executive Members and for us at FIFA we are very humble by that. I want to tell my colleagues that you don’t take this support for granted”, Tangawarima noted. The former FIFA Referee acknowledged the good organization of the training session and said he has the strong conviction that Gambian Referees both men and women could take the.game higher to another level.

GFF 3rd Vice President Gen Lang Tombong Tamba and Acting Referees Association chairman John Frank Mendy both thanked Tangawarima for the successful conduct of the Training while advising the participants to make good use of the knowledge learned.

Retired Referee Alhagie Adama Mbaye delivered the vote of thanks. He also thanked the Course Instructor for the knowledge he impacted on the participants and.further thanked the GFF for organizing what he referred as milestone training.
The ceremony was capped off with a presentation of certificates.
