Gambia Cricket Association (GCA) has recently held a maiden introductory cricket training course for military personnel at Farafenni Barrack.

The course was meant to expand the cricket game to the length and breadth of the country and to increase its popularity beyond Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region.

The military personnel were trained in battling, balling and fielding during the course of the training.

Captain Babucarr Ngum of Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) applauded executive members of Gambia Cricket Association (GCA) for coming up with such a very important course, saying that the training would enable the military personnel to participate in the game like any other sports.

He appealed to the training participants to make best use of the knowledge and skills they gained for the betterment and sustainability of the game and to retain the skills so that they would help facilitate the same to others who couldn’t get the opportunity to be here.

He assured Gambia Cricket Association (GCA) of GAF’s full participation and commitment to the discipline of the game as they seek for the games’ expansion.

“I would like to congratulate Colonel Timothy Sanyang of the Second Infantry Battalion for granting us the opportunity to take part in the training,’’ he said.
