Striker Penda Bah and Isatou Jallow have been included in The Gambia U-20 women squad for their upcoming international friendly matches against Senegal this weekend in Dakar.
Bah and Jallow were both playing their trades for Rivers Angels in the Nigerian women premier league. The Queen Scorpions will play against Senegal in a two-legged international friendly.
The team is also preparing for WAFU Zone A Women’s tournament that has now been put on hold till further notice, they will be hoping to try their neighbours for size in their build-up.
The two countries will use the friendly matches ahead of their 2020 African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the Gambia facing Guinea Bissau, while Senegal take on Liberia in March 2020.
Bah and Jallow helped Rivers to a sixth Nigerian league title this summer, are the only players on the 20-women squad named by head coach Mariama Sowe for the trip to Dakar.
Also in the squad are Adama Tamba, the record goal scorer for both club and country, along with Mbassy Darboe of Interior FC.
The Queen Scorpions, who arrived in Senegal on Tuesday evening, are expected to face their Senegalese counterparts in the first leg at the Jules Francois Bocande Centre.
They will have the second leg encounter at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies on Saturday before returning home a day later.
