Egypt’s delegation at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh 2025 has achieved significant success, winning eight medals in weightlifting, which places them second in the medal table behind Turkey. The Egyptian weightlifting team has showcased impressive performances, confirming their continental and international dominance.
Sarah Samir continued her strong performances by winning two gold medals and one silver in the 77 kg weight category, solidifying her status as one of the sport’s leading figures on the international stage. Karim Kahla also excelled, securing a silver and a bronze in the clean and total categories at 94 kg, adding to his accomplishments with the national team. Additionally, Rahma Ahmed achieved a remarkable feat by winning two golds and a bronze in the 86 kg category, contributing three more medals to Egypt’s tally.
The Egyptian weightlifting team is led by Mohamed Ayman Fouad, a member of the federation’s board, with support from Alaa El-Din Hassan Kamel, the administrative manager of national teams, and coaches for both men’s and women’s teams. Egypt’s participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games includes a large contingent of athletes across various sports, such as swimming, athletics, basketball (3×3), boxing, camel racing, equestrian, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, wrestling, and Paralympic sports.
The Islamic Solidarity Games aim to enhance connections among Islamic countries through sports and are held every four years, providing a platform for athletes to compete and showcase their skills. Egypt’s notable achievements in sports history highlight its status as a regional sports powerhouse.
